PT3 - Master of Arts
in Teaching Program
Become a Teacher While Pioneering New Instructional Technology
Now you can participate in a unique opportunity to become a licensed elementary
or secondary teacher using the most advanced skills in instructional technology.
In June, the U.S. Department of Education granted National-Louis University
$1.4 million for the Preparing Tomorrow's Teacher to Use Technology Program
(PT3). Working in conjunction with the Milwaukee Public Schools, new class
groups are forming to prepare individuals to become teachers in elementary
or secondary education using superior instructional technology.
As of the Spring of 2002, this program has expanded to the Washington
D.C. area, with new Master of Arts in Teaching cohorts in Prince William
County.
Integrating Teaching with Technology
This teacher preparation program is specifically designed to provide teachers
with a thorough understanding of how to integrate
technology into classroom instruction. Participating students will
be working in nearby technology-rich schools and taught by National-Louis
University faculty and master teachers in partnering school districts.
Additionally, students will have access to a host of online resource libraries,
web sites, videoconferencing, and chat rooms to enhance the learning experience.
Learn as Part of a Cohort
National-Louis University pioneered the cohort model of teacher education.
You'll be part of a group of students who take classes and move through
the entire two-year program together. You and the other cohort participants
learn and grow together, building on your collective strengths, and supporting
each other throughout the learning process.
What You'll Gain
Individuals accepted to the program gain these benefits:
-
State-of-the-art teacher preparation that fully integrates best practices
for instructional technology.
-
-
Opportunities to collaborate with students in selected National-Louis University
cohorts across the country via online discourse and videoconferencing.
-
Student teaching in select technologically sophisticated classrooms in
partnering school districts.
-
Shared experience and support that comes from participating in a cohort
of learners.
-
Classes conveniently located within the partnering school district and
scheduled during the late afternoon and evenings to meet the needs of working
students.
-
Instruction from teachers and advisors who are actively involved in the
creation of effective instructional practices that integrate technology.
-
An individual laptop computer for use throughout the program.
